THE GUIDING FACIAL AT AYLA (45 minutes)
The Guiding Facial at Ayla is a beacon on your skincare and beauty journey, designed to keep you on the right path.
After a review of your current skincare routine and lifestyle, your Guide will help you choose a treatment featuring Marie Veronique, YULI, MyHavtorn, TWELVE, de Mamiel, Luzern, or Vintner's Daughter products — or a custom mix of anything on our shelves you've been dying to try. Then you'll settle into our womblike treatment room for a deep cleanse, light exfoliation, extractions if desired, facial reflexology massage, and application of the perfect products along with a boost of oxygen (read more about our oxygen treatment below).
At the end, you’ll leave with a glowing complexion, a rejuvenated spirit, and a plan. And over time, Guiding Facials will help you develop a deeper understanding of your own skin so that you can feel empowered to make the right product choices every day — which is the ultimate goal.
45 minutes, $125. Please click here to book an appointment.
THE DELUXE GUIDING FACIAL AT AYLA (80 minutes)
If you and your skin could use a little more TLC, The Deluxe Guiding Facial is similar to our Guiding Facial, but more massage-forward and focused on deep relaxation. It includes a deep cleanse, light exfoliation, extra massage and facial reflexology to work on areas of congestion, an incredibly relaxing and muscle-tension-releasing Gua Sha treatment, and finally, a glow-giving oxygen boost. You'll also get a nourishing treatment to revitalize pandemic-parched hands. It's as divine as it sounds, and we're guessing you'll emerge looking and feeling like the very best version of yourself. (Note: this facial does not include extractions, instead using extra massage to address congested skin while keeping you in a state of deeper relaxation.)
80 minutes, $205. Please click here to book an appointment.
*Should you need to cancel a facial booking, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing help@aylabeauty.com or calling 415-520-7320. There is a cancellation fee for treatments cancelled less than 24 hours ahead of time.
A FEW SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES & TREATMENTS WE USE IN OUR TREATMENT ROOM
GUA SHA
Gua Sha is a traditional healing technique from China that involves a small, smooth stone board that is pressed against the skin to gently massage facial fascia, muscles, and skin while stimulating specific energy points. This encourages healthy circulation, releases muscular tension, and promotes lymphatic drainage for a more lifted, less puffy look and brighter, healthier looking skin. Gua Sha relieves tension in the facial muscles and fascia while it encourages movement of lymph fluid, resulting in a smoother, more lifted look after just one session.
Note: If you’ve had any Botox or fillers in the last six weeks, those areas cannot be treated with gua sha.
OXYGEN TREATMENT
The oxygen facial has long been the go-to treatment for those facing a red carpet, an HD camera, or a wedding: it can temporarily diminish imperfections and immediately reveal glowing, better hydrated, plumper-looking skin in addition to fighting acne-causing bacteria. “But wait,” you might say. “Doesn’t more oxygen mean oxidation?” Excellent question. Oxygen facials are not about oxidation, but rather oxygenation — which will encourage better circulation and rejuvenate the skin. (If you’d like more detail about these differences, you’ll find a great, readable summary by dermatologist Ava Shamban, MD here.)
We're big believers in these treatments, made extra special at Ayla with your choice of a custom-picked Luzern serum or a special Luzern mask packed with a host of hydrating, brightening, anti-inflammatory goodies like hyaluronic acid, probiotics, and marine algae. Either way, our oxygen machine will efficiently infuse the product into your skin for an incredible glow. It's as magical as it sounds, and it's the perfect pre-event treatment.
FACIAL REFLEXOLOGY
Facial reflexology is a technique based on the work of Professor Bùi Quốc Châu, who created a specific approach to facial mapping in Saigon in the 1980s. Practitioners use tools (in our esthetician’s case, a tool that looks like a pen with a round point at the end) to massage facial meridian points, helping to bring the body closer to a state of balance. It is starting to be used in facials more widely as a holistic healing approach, since a better-balanced body often leads to better-balanced skin. In Sarah’s hands, we find this gentle grounding practice to be a perfect way to settle into our facials and fall into a deeper state of relaxation.
ABOUT OUR ESTHETICIAN
SARAH IVESON
Sarah Iveson is a natural and non-toxic beauty pioneer in addition to having one of the most soothing spirits we know. She first became fascinated with holistic approaches to skincare when she trained in depth at a holistic pharmacy with highly regarded European health and beauty brands in the early 2000s — long before natural beauty was the broader force that it is now.
Sarah became a licensed esthetician in 2007 and soon became known for her stellar facial treatments and relaxing facial massage techniques at a celebrity makeup artist studio in San Francisco. She specializes in Gua Sha and facial reflexology, two techniques she has undergone advanced training for, and she's a big believer in the power of facial massage.
We speak from experience when we say that her glow-inducing oxygen facials are reason enough to book repeat visits, but she’s also such fun to hang out with that it’s hard to leave our cozy room when your treatment is over — especially since she's a walking encyclopedia of skincare secrets.
